Hi,

Has anyone used the Apps available for the Ipod/Iphone from the following web site:- www.plaincode.com ?

The "Clinometer" is good for levels etc. and the "Setsquare" is good to set things up on, for example a milling machine at any angle required.

They are also Free which is even better.

Hi Roger

I use my iPad in the workshop all the time. I don't use those apps but have plans for the engine I am making, calculator and of course looking up information like tapping drill sizes etc. on the Internet. I find it invaluable.

I do make sure I have it in a decent case though and try to keep it away from the swarf.

I (we) have an iPad - a "joint" Xmas present with my wife in 2011. Nifty bit of kit but I don't often get my hands on it and, as far as smuggling it out to the workshop............ I think not ! ( I do like to eat and she's a great cook! )

I did have a bizzare experience with it the other week. We are in Devon, our No.2 son lives in Melbourne with his partner. We sat chatting on a video call with him using the iPad. At the same time his partner was talking to her Dad in Kent via hers . He took his ipad across to her, they pointed the pads at each other and her dad and I chatted happily ! Devon to Kent via Australia!!!!

I can still remember the days when getting to Australia was a 6 week boat trip

( and you probably had to book phone calls in advance) '

Ain't technology wonderful.

Regards

Norman

It sure is, Norman. World has moved on a bit since my Father and his brother built a home - made radio and all the components themselves in their bedroom when they were teenagers!

Rgds,
