304 forum posts 14 photos | I was reading a thread on boring heads on here and the Arron head got quit a bit of support but I can't seam to find them on the net, are they still made if so who sells them and what sort of price am I looking at, just want a boring head of around the 50mm mark with an mt2 shaft, any idea's.

304 forum posts 14 photos | Thank's Brian I have looked and they may be a bit to expensive for me, what are the boring heads like from RDG and Chronos like I know you get what you pay for but that depends on how much you have to start with.

![]() 4318 forum posts 291 photos 1 articles | Hi Alan, If you're feeling a bit impecunious, a boring head isn't a particularly difficult thing to make. I made mine from two slices of 2" bar on a 3MT blank arbor. Dovetails and a gib strip, a simple arrangement with a 1mm pitch screw to adjust it, and some 3/8" holes for boring bars. I have seen a further simplification using rectangular slide surfaces. Perhaps one of the best home-made accessories considering the ratio of effort required to price of a new item. Neil |
