![]() 3357 forum posts 112 photos 10 articles | Hi Brian I would want to know what the inside of the vice between the jaws is. Some of these cheap vices have a rough casting between the jaws or a bit of a rough gap so you can't put a parallel in it. Also, the base loses you headroom but if you remove it, you can only use the vice at 90 degrees to the X axis. That would be fine for most of the time but 10% of the time you may need the vice in line with the X axis and unless your Tee slots are the right distance apart you may not be able to clamp it down. regards David |

![]() 1376 forum posts 10 photos | I've got one of the vices in the link and it's very good (although prone to rusting), however I don't use it on my milling machine as I prefer a similar one but without the swivelling base. |

![]() 856 forum posts 212 photos | Thanks for the ad-vice. I am ok with height as i have a warco that the head can go up and down. It was the quality side of things that worried me. On the one that i have the moving part lifts a little when i clamp things in it. If i forget to tap the part level i end up with a taper cut.
No chance of Manchester, her who must be obeyed needs to visit a shop in colne tomorrow and the nearest i will get to anything like moddeling will be Howarth railway.
Cheers
