Solar furnace sintered regolith anyone?

Btw leonardo de vinci etal. used solar collector mirrors for welding copper. the dome of a building if I remember correctly.

I am intrigued by this

a) Do you have a reference ?

b) How did they get the light in ? [unless, of course, they used a small dome removed from a building]

Remember as boys we used to have small magnifying glasses and use the sun to set paper and wood alight but that was in Rhodesia.

I don't remember trying wood, but we did set paper, and cigarette cards, alight with magnifying glasses, even in the UK.

ISTR similar techniques are used for making large domes and similar structures by spraying concrete. It may be that LNG storage tanks are made that way, its a few years since I was reading about them so I may be mistaken.

.came across it in other leonardo research...he had all the compnents for a bike except rubber tyres...particly liked his machine for making files...what a guy.
