9 BA steel nuts wanted

Can anyone suggest a source for a quantity of 9 BA full size steel nuts?

I re thread them 8BA and use with small headed 8BA bolts. The reason why they are useful is that they appear to scale to 1" Whitworth on a 5" gauge loco model.

The usual suppliers no longer appear to stock them, as a non standard size.

Hope someone can help.

Hi John

An old friend of mine ( and a superb model engineer) made all his nuts & bolts by milling from round stock. He said this was the only way to achive good scale !

I suspect you may find 9 BA hard to source - but good luck.

Regards

Norman

Thanks Ted. EKP has them no more; search engines produced GLR whch I understand is also no more...

I have resorted to making my own, Norman, from 9 BA hex - however our time on earth is limited!

BA-Bolt list 8BA with one size smaller hex which would save you having to retap the 9BA ones

Crickey that's about 50 pence per 8BA nut!

That's enough to get me making my own =:-0
