1479 forum posts 1 photos | I recently completed a 3-phase conversion to my Chester Eagle 30 mill.
I bought a drop in motor rated at 1.1kw ( basically the same rating as the single phase motor) from an Ebay seller for around the £110 mark and a suitable vfd from another seller for less than £80... Add together the cost of some wiring and switches the whole conversion was done for less than £225...
Without knowing what motor size you have on your mill, I cant advise...
Cheers

Hi Ron, Les. Hi Les, My Milling machine (equivalent to Warco WM18) and Warco lathe WM280V-F have single phase motors and variable speed. How is this achieved if what you say is correct. I know little about motor control, Best regards for the New Year, Terry |

1479 forum posts 1 photos | To the best of my knowledge, the WM18 mill and the WM280V lathe both have DC permanent magnet motors which easily lend themselves to speed control using either MOSFET based or SCR based controllers. |
