![]() 150 forum posts 1 photos | My missis found blocks of DAS modelling clay on offer at a local shop and bought me some on spec. I can't really think of any engineering use for it though, does anyone have any bright ideas ? Can you use it as a mould for casting small parts in brass ? that's about the only thing that comes to mind. |

Also make sure there is no moisture left in the clay before you pour. When I was more into figure modeling I often used it to create paving, cobbles and brickwork for the bases so if you are into stationary engines it could be used to make bases for them.

I don't actually make models ( I hear cries of " then what on earth are you doing here ? "
I'm here for the engineering know-how - model engineers are an excellent source of Very Clever Ideas I was wondering about the casting possibilities as one thing I do is make hand forged Japanese style knives. The handles sometimes have small copper alloy sculptures called 'menuki' placed in the wrapping, it might be nice to cast some of those. |
