Steel Tender Waterproofing

I am building a traction engine with a steel tender and I'm trying to find out the best way of waterproofing the water tank. I'm thinking about some sort of rubberised paint, or maybe fiberglass.

The galvanised steel water tank I took out of my loft was in pretty good condition after 50 years, but galvanisation doesn't seem like a practical option.

Regards,

Den.

Go to a bikers shop ask for a sealant for a petrol tank pour it into your tank and pick it up and give it a good swish round. no need to say seal opening first before swishing....

Isoflex or Por15. Go and have a look on the Traction Talk forum. I asked this same question over there.

I asked the same question to some guys with miniatures at a steam rally, I did as they recommended, light shot blast and then coated with isoflex liquid rubber. They said they had not had any problem over several years.

Thanks for the advice. I think Isoflex seems the best way to go.
