There are only two sizes of bolts, too long, and too short |

753 forum posts 80 photos | Hi there, Brian and Ian, I was taught that the end of the bolt (or screw) should protrude from the nut by one and a half turns of thread.
But then I thought, could this thread turn into a plain vs spring washer-fest?!?! Best regards, Swarf, Mostly!

Might be simplest to measure the motor foot etc on yours to find the right size. Various motors seem to have been fitted to these machines, and the motorising assembly list in my manual does not actually show these nuts & bolts.

Therefore may I suggest that you measure the width of the slots in the motor mounting plate and the mounting slots or holes in the motor and use a bolt diameter that will fit the smaller of these. The length only needs to be sufficient to fit the thickness of a nut plus washers if required. The thread type doesn't really matter, just use the largest diameter that will fit and you should be fine. Like V8Eng, I have very limited access the the back of my ML7 to take measurements.
