Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get plans to build a stirling hot air engine fan the type that sits on top of a wood burning stove.

I am not sure where to look for such plans but would like to build a hot air engine fan. I believe there was a fan called moriya by Dr Senft.

If anyone has any info or advice I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance guys.

Richard..

Hi There

There was a plan by Dr Senft for a hot air fan in Model Engineer probably late 60s, 1970s or early 80s.

I would think early to mid 70s.

Check an online index.

regards David

Jerry Howell in the US has some good plans for this type. There are no castings involved and his detailed instructions on making the components are second to none.

Clarence Myers has a design for a stove top fan. Not sure whether he would sell you the drawings without the castings, though.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for the info on the stirling engines.

Great picture Ian thats the sort of thing I was looking for I have tried to find the Dr Senft Moriya plans for the same looking engine as you have Ian.

Does anyone know if there are plans to build a stove top fan in the Stirling Hot Air Engine book by Roy Darlington, not sure if that book has any plans that I would be looking for ?

Thanks in advance Guys.

Hi Richard

I've come to this thread a bit late I'm afraid, but take a look at http://www.gyroscopes.co.uk/images/stirlingfan/stirlingfandiagram.gif

I too intend to build a fan for a stove and came across this image some while ago. While not exactly a plan, it comes pretty close. The gyroscopes.co.uk site will also sell you a ready-made one and there are a lot of other fascinating bits and pieces on there too.

Regards

Howard
