![]() 6137 forum posts 893 photos | I've gone on the hunt for a couple of smallish 4 jaws, no hurrys but they're in the -look out for- diary So I spotted this VERY reasonably priced 4jaw, for a proxxon...and my finger hovered over the "grab it now! grab it now!" button...and the wee man in the back of my head (I've got the family braincell this week) said "check it out first! check it out first Ady! If it seems too good to be true then..." So I had a wee look about...and it's plastic. PLASTIC! ...and the advert, and various other adverts I looked at just happened to omit mentioning this because EVERYBODY knows all 4 jaws chucks are plastic sigh... |

377 forum posts | Ady- you might look at the little chucks from peatol here . They have a very reasnoble price and separate bolt on jaws that are easy to machine. Proxxon do use a lot of plastic, their little cheap wood lathes use plastic collets that tend to bind up but I have not seen a plastic 4 jaw yet! Billy. |

![]() 4318 forum posts 291 photos 1 articles | At one of the exhibitions a man thought i was turning my nose up at hgis proxxon selection. I had to explain I appreciated the quality but they are just TOO SMALL and the materials - mostly alloys and plastic - are TOO FRAGILE!!! That said I have an alloy peatol-type vertical slide and it survived some dire abuse before I got a mill! Neil |

![]() 7468 forum posts 230 photos | Ian, Thats even smaller than the chuck for my Super Adept, Its 2 1/4" dia(57 mm), thats ample small enough for me. I would like a self centering 3 jaw, although it not to bad centering the work in the 4 jaw, just fiddly. Ian S C |
