![]() 2929 forum posts 41 photos | I have just bought some stainless steel 5mm shaft and its not round, put in the triple plain bearings and it catches as it is turned.
Measuring it shows a slight ovality but its hard to measure.
Does anyone know of where I can get precision ground 5mm st steel shaft?
I have looked at HPC but no luck there.

74 forum posts | You could look at the CNC parts suppliers as they offer stainless for the linear bearing shafts. The only thing is it's very hard but is machineable with carbide tipped tooling

236 forum posts 37 photos | Its a common problem with center less grinding and needs a mic with a vee anvill to detect as it can measure the same at any position with a std mic. See here. And here You might be able to detect in raw stock by rotating in a vee block with DTI mtd. Steve Larner |
