![]() 543 forum posts 31 photos | I currently pay my subscription to "Model Engineers Workshop" by direct debit, prompted by a (spam) e-mail to re-subscribe to "Model Engineer"? I went to check the state of things. It seems as a direct debit subscriber I will never have the reminder to re-subscribe does this exclude me from any further subscription gifts? If if pay my subscription yearly as opposed to direct debit do I get a subscription gift? If I cancel my subscription and take out a new one I will get a subscription gift? A loyalty reward perhaps? Regards Paul |

You can cancel and resubcribe to gat a gift.
I expect the subscription price will be higher though.
We have to write to you if we want to put direct debit price up.
I doubt we would do that as it might cause you to cancel.
Best to stick with direct debit and low price.
regards David

![]() 645 forum posts 33 photos | Hi Paul stick with the DD system. I do and I do not have to worry about the vagueness of Magyarposta or the old GPO, remembering to renew my subscription, loosing the reminders etc . If they do not perform I will just drop my bank (on them exit David very worried). Gifts – there is no such thing in this world as a ‘free lunch’!

940 forum posts 30 photos | Hi
Its somewhat like Sky, Virgin Media, banks etc new comers get a gift like half price subscriptions for 6 months while the loyal members seem to get nout. All about getting new subscribers to boost numbers/sales etc. to meet targets or whatever at the expense of the loyal regulars. As Dick says 'There's no such thing as a free lunch' its just that the regulars are expected to cough up for the newbies tempter. The good thing is that they will end up subsidising the downstream newbies and then they can moan about their contributions.
Grumpy old bu**er's rant over

![]() 517 forum posts 57 photos | As Richard says, stick with DD. I'm paying the same now as when I first took it out years ago, which is considerably less than todays prices. That's a good enough bonus for me. John |

![]() 28 forum posts 3 photos | Hi David,
I apologise if you thought I was having a go at you in my previous post, I assure you I wasn't.
I will now though.
Last time I looked, Australia was surrounded by water and hence for anyone who wished to visit would have to at least travel over-seas. And still no free gift to us 'overseas' in Australia.
I am confident I had my 'facts right' apart from what clearly has been a rash statement on my behalf which seems to have forced you to assume I meant everywhere overseas. I already know that the US and Canada get the freebies because it was only recently on another thread you told me so.
No smiley face!!

125 forum posts | ME 26 issues@£2.75=£71.50 Current DD=£55 a saving of £16.50 or 23% MEW 13 issues@£3.95=£51.35 Current DD=£42 a saving of £9.35 or18.2% The foundation course book is on another site at £10.34 My DD for MEW is £36 so if I cancelled and took out a new subscription I would gain £4.34 but my DD would go up by £6 for the next year. <Best to stick with direct debit and low price.> So as David said, it aint worth it for me. Derry. PS this post has not been reviwed so I know it will contain errors. |
