Fig 25 whats that all about

Top left elevation has the firedoor and chimney flange on the same side of the Furnace not opposite sides

Bottom left view, is it first angle, 3rd angle, view from above, below or even a section makes no sense at all.

The 16mm & 9mm dimensions are well out of proporting.

If it was formed around a square plug why is it dimensioned 39mm x 34mm?

Thats enough for now will look at the rest later.

Well 157 views an no reply so either nobody is interested or they all can't make out teh drawing.

Having looked a bit more I would say

Chimney flange should be hidden detail and also shown on the side elevation

Bottem left view is just wrong not sure if its teh original, scanning errors or the Greek effect.

The 9mm dimension line should be drawn to the edge of the main Furnace not the edge of the "band"

The 39mm dimension lines should go to the edge of the band giving a 2.5mm band width all round

The 40.25mm dimension lines should go to the centres of the 8BA holes

David perhaps you could confirm my theories?

While you are at it the pump piston is 6mm into a 6mm bore in the text but 5.5mm into a 5.5mm hole on the drawing (Fig 29) Is the 6BA thread onto a 2.5mm shaft correct seems it won't give a lot of thread depth.

Wooden base should have a 60mm dia recess not 6mm and the square hole for the post should be 10.5sq not 5sq(Fig 32)

Hi Jason,

I saw this engine running at the Guildford Model Show and it looked good bobbing up and down and pumping water. It seems a real shame that anyone attempting this engine from the drawings will end up making the same pieces 2 or 3 times before it will all fit together and more than likley give up.
Maybe ME should offer you a job as a proof reader!
Keep up the good work stopping mere mortals like me from making to much scrap.

Kind Regards

Steve....

I am a digital subscriber ... as of this moment issue 4409 is not available ... so I can't comment. (I don't have a paper copy)

When is 4409 going to be availabe as a digital version? (I feel it should be the day the paper copies are posted (or the day after) .. not after is appears in the shops.

Your subs web page does say --- Access to the latest Model Engineer magazine online as soon as its published.

David Clark,

I note that elsewhere it is stated that the latest issue of Model Engineer is now in the shops, that being issue 4409 (July 29 - 11 August).

I also note that JasonB made comments on issue 4409 on July 27rd - 3 days ago. Whilst others are moaning about not yet seeing the on-line version how about us who subscribe for a paper copy in the understanding that we will receive our copy before it hits the newsagents - here am I with nothing to read for the weekend as nothing has dropped through my letter box!

I'm not going to blame the Royal Mail as now I think about it I never get any copy until a Saturday yet from this and other forum entries it appears other get their copy mid week.
Is this correct?

regards whilst waiting for my ME

Barry

4409 was later than usual getting to me, usually the Sat before it hits the shops (23rd) or at the latest Moday (25th)

Maybe the postie is struggling with the extra weight of the enclose Rexon Catalogue and Reeves's "Highlights" catalogue

David,

Sorry not to have answered before but been very busy doing work around the house.
Maybe Monday or Tuesday during office hours a less frivolous reply would be appreciated as to why I always seem to receive my ME and MEW as they appear in the shops and not before.

regards Barry

Hi Barry
I have no idea.
They are all posted at the same time.
I suppose it depends onm the quantity of mail at your local sorting office.
regards David
