Enter the subscription number without the first two 00.
You need an 8 figure subs number.
You only have six figures.
When I have your subs number I can check on your subscription and gift.
regards David

2 forum posts | Hi David. If new subscribers need to log on, or create a new account. Could this be put into a covering letter sent out with the first copy of the subscription (hard copy) Detailing exactly how we claim our subs gift? My situation is the same as Danny L above apart from I have a ten digit No. and I am using the Extra's area with no problems.
All the best Paul......... |

2 forum posts | Hi David. It's nearly two weeks since my last (Or first I should say) posting & although my first post has been moderated & put online, I still do not have a response to my question of where is my Wixey that keeps flashing on my left to remind me. Have I missed something? or do I have to complete something else to claim this gift? I would appreciate some clarification. Regards Paul... |

2 forum posts | Hi David What happens when one subscribes by direct debit, it does not seem possible to avail one self of the free gifts? This seems a little unfair and suggests its better to unsubscribe from DD and simply renew each year especially as the free gift value appears to be considerably more than the discount (that is beneficial to both parties) offered.

![]() 442 forum posts 19 photos | Hi David what is the process if a free gift happens to be faulty (or in my case not of merchantable quality). I have received the latest freebie ( mini chuck and adaptor) but the runout on the JT0 spindle is 0.35mm and shows a very pronounced wobble with the chuck fitted ( hardly surprising!). I have emailed subscriptions but not yet had a reply.
thanks in anticipation Howard |

thanks in anticipation Howard In the interest of clarity, I also post here what you said in another post: Thought I had better check mine, mine has pronounced wobble too. Measured runout on jt0 spindle and got 0.35mm - totally unacceptable. I think the chocolate nut and bolt on another thread would have more uses, at least I could eat it!!! I feel we have been duped. ----------------------------- In response to your last remark in particular, on the other thread, there are comments there after where some others have received reasonable results. So, I guess that MHS went out of their way 'to dupe you'? I would suggest that you return the free gift, and ask for a refund of your subscription. If the gift was 'not of merchantable quality', and you have been duped, you have full recourse against MHS directly, under the distance selling act. How dare they dupe you Alternatively, if you are sure about the runout on the JT0 spindle, measured correctly, and provided there was no damage to it in the first place, did you consider to ask ARC for an opinion?. If you did, they would have suggested that to expedite matters, you send these products to ARC, at your cost, for them to check. If they agreed with your observation, they might have considered to replace the adapter and/or the drill chuck for you, even though they have no responsibility to do so, under this situation, as ARCs supply was to MHS. I guess you failed to read 'Coalburners' comment on the other thread in response to your 'duped' comment. But then again, all supplirs are ***** who are just out to dupe you...I guess Ketan at ARC.

Was told that basically since your renewal is at reduced price you don't get a "free" gift. Sort of understand .but wish this was made clear..or maybe just as an alternative to free gift a discount code...available to any subscriber.... |

Nothing but praise for the service and items I have had from arc. The only two posters at the time both (me included) had the same problem - a pronounced wobble that rendered the item unusable for it's intended purpose. What would YOU think? Although arc may have supplied the items, my contract was with mhs not arc. I have asked David and the subscriptions department a legitimate question. Why you launched into a tirade of abuse I do not know! Shame on you! If you have had a bad day, don't take it out on me. Edited By JasonB on 14/12/2013 20:15:16 |

I also suspect that what you hold this attachment with will have some influence on runout as it places the chuck a couple of inches from where the attachment is held. For example a machine mart bench drill will likely give more runout at the JT than if it were held in a collet in the mill.

![]() 442 forum posts 19 photos | Hi jasonb I used my sx2 ( from arc!!! Incidentaly) and measured 0.35 mm runout, actually there wasn' t any real need to measure as the runout was very visible with the mini chuck attached. A few thousands and I wouldn't mind, but the mini chuck is stamped 0.3 to 4mm and is meant for drilling with very small drills. |

Why you launched into a tirade of abuse I do not know! Shame on you! If you have had a bad day, don't take it out on me. Howard, I apologise for what appears to be strong language coming from me. This was really in response to the phrases used by you in your posts on this subject, including the word 'duped', which in itself I counted as being offensive. My point being that neither MHS or ARC deliberately set out to dupe any body. However, your comments on this subject directly or indirectly effect ARC, so I dont really see that I have launched into a tirade of abuse. As I have given you that impression, I apologise. For the record, David had to work hard to convince us to supply these products to MHS. We were simply not interested, as we have been happily selling these products without wanting extra publicity for it. Now I just wish we hadn't supplied anything to MHS. At the end of the day, you are right, your contract is with MHS, and I should keep out. Ketan at ARC. Edited By JasonB on 14/12/2013 20:15:56 |

J Edited By JasonB on 09/12/2013 19:28:02 Jason, From memory, for the adaptor, the run-out as measured at the JT0 end without the chuck on should be around 0.05mm. I believe that this is/was the specification to which they are produced for the American market. Your other suspicions are also correct, and every user has their own idea for how they wish to use it, all of which will effect performance in its own way. The chuck may be marked 0.3mm to 4mm. However, if you refer to our catalogue, website, and the sticker stuck on the cardboard box of the chuck, we state 0.4mm to 4mm. How it will really perform at the 0.4mm level is open to question. This is all ARC is able to say. If people are unhappy with the products, their recourse is now with MHS, and not with us, as Howard quite rightly says. Ketan at ARC. |

![]() 442 forum posts 19 photos | Ketan - perhaps the use of 'duped' may have been inapropriate, but at that point there had only been myself and one other who had received their free gift - both of us found the item to be unusable. You quote that runout should be 0.05mm which to me seems reasonable at the price point. With that amount of runout one would not expect to see any noticable wobble which is what both of us were experiencing. Having bought a mag subscrition on the back of the freebie ( and the fact it was being supplied from arc who I have the greatest respect for as a supplier) I do feel duped, wouldn't you? Rather than diving in with both feet and having a go at someone who genuinely felt let down, whatever happened to the saying ' the customer is allways right '. I feel you have done yourself a great dis-service with your response, that may affect your business much more than my posting. |

Having bought a mag subscrition on the back of the freebie ( and the fact it was being supplied from arc who I have the greatest respect for as a supplier) I do feel duped, wouldn't you? Well, I can sympathise with that comment. I can understand why you feel duped, but as explained earlier, there has been no intention to dupe anyone. So now, solutions need to be found for how to deal with this situation. So, in my opinion, here are some options to consider: Option 1: As discussed earlier, you can take up the matter with MHS subs department. As you said, your contract is with them. How they decide to deal with the situation is between them an you. I cannot speak on their behalf. Option 2: Although nothing to do us because your contract is with MHS, but because our name is on the cardboard packing, you can send the products back to us - both chuck and adaptor - for checking. If the products are found to be faulty, we will replace the faulty part/s, provided they are un-used, and Option 3: To remove any doubts what so ever 'of feeling duped', if you or any MHS customer feels that they are not happy with these products in any way, just return them to ARC, un-used, in original packing, ensuring no transit damage, and ARC will be happy to put credit on account for that customer, equivalent to the costs of the parts returned, i.e. GBP12.97 for the Micro Drill Adaptor, and GBP12.31 for the key type drill chuck. Again, ARC will not pay for any carriage from you to ARC. This credit on account can only be used against future purchase of goods and related carriage from ARC. It is not refundable in any form of money, because at the end of the day, the customers contract is with MHS, and not with ARC. ARC is only presenting this option to avoid 'any feeling of being duped', and your original contract is with MHS, and not ARC. For options 2 or 3 to apply, the said goods should be returned to ARC within 30 calendar days of receipt from MHS. Proof of purchase of related magazine subscription will be required. I personally feel that situations like this should be dealt with without delay. Based on reading of past experience of forum members views on communications with the subscriptions department, I believe that most people would be waiting a while for a response. So, I don't think that I have done myself or ARC any dis-service with my response. But then again, I could be wrong too Ketan at ARC. |

![]() 442 forum posts 19 photos | Hi Ketan Thank you for your response. Just a minor point, I did not imply there was any 'intention' by arc to dupe, I was just trying to elicit a response from MHS. With regard to your generous offers in options 2 and 3, I can only say 'thank you However, in this instance I will at this point, decline these offers, as I feel my contract is with MHS not ARC. I will await a response from MHS and take it from there and at the end of the day, if nothing is forthcomming then I will stand any loss and put it down to experience. I will continue to order 'stuff!' as and when I need it, from ARC. Have a nice day folks, soon be Christmas.......... |
