M4 coupling nuts, where can I get them ?

Does anybody know a source in the UK for M4 coupling (or sometimes called "extension") nuts ?

BZP mild steel would be my ideal, self-coloured next choice, brass third choice.

As I need to drill a hole through the nut, stainless is not an option, and nylon would be too soft.

I have tried searching online but so far no luck...

TIA ,

Murray

If you only need a few then it would probably be quicker to get a bit of hex bar and make your own.

Can't say I've seen them that small.

Also try looking for electrical standoff's,
Used for holding circuit boards off above chassis plates, some are nylon, some are plated steel or brass.

Hi Murray,
From John S's  suggestion Farnell have standoffs. Here is the link to the web page. Farnell standoffs    The postage would make them too expensive if you only require a small number.

Thanks a lot, John and Les.

I will be looking to buy 100 of these and I see that Farnell do indeed offer steel standoffs, which I would prefer to nickel plated brass.

Jason''s link to studding connectors turns up items at 47p  each (inc VAT), which is fine, but obviously if I can save a few quid I will  try to do so.

Length of nut isn't really an issue, I just need enough to catch onto the studding and leave enough over to drill a 2mm hole.

Thanks again for all the help, I ended up buying from Farnell, who actually do free postage, but have a minimum £20.00 order.

That gets me 100 BZP M4 Standoffs 35 mm long.

I will be able to cut each one in half, so effectively 200 coupling nuts at 10p each.

I'm happy with that ...

Don't bank on them being tapped all the way though...

Good point, Neil, but  for my purpose, it would be advantageous if they weren't in fact tapped all the way through, as I am not actually using them as connectors.

6-8mm of thread would be ideal.

That way, I can fit them tightly onto my M4 studding, and secure them with Loctite.

I can still do that even if they are threaded all the way, but just not quite as satisfyingly....
