3 forum posts | My appologies if this has been covered, or is obvious to everyone but myself, but how can I close my account here? There seems to be a button for everything else, and I thought 'close account' should come under 'My Account', but it does not seem to be there?

You don't have to look at this site if you don't want to. All you have to do is not log on!
You can stay, it's not as if you were being charged to view despite the use of the word "account".
If you are unhappy with the site, can you say in what way it has not lived up to your expectations? The "management" do actually listen to reasonable complaints. chriStephens |

I dont know the answer but it is typical from my experience that the inadequacies of the site (not the content) have been defended rather than you being given a solution.
If I did not want to use this site any more I would want my details removed from the 'system' and I suspect you want the same.
I am sure if you were not happy with something about the site you would say so, your reasons for closing the account are yours and you should not have to justify them if you don't want to. |

3 forum posts | Exactly John Shepherd 1.
I think the content on this site is excellent, but am having some personal security issues here, and want to have my email details (and whatever else they now have) removed.
Besides, this is by far the most 'glitchy' forum system I have seen, do not trust the software. If it can log you out at random, fail to recognise your password only sometimes, etc., who knows what else it can do!
Will continue to be an avid reader of ME and MEW.
But need to leave the site, unfortunately. |

3 forum posts | Also, I have learned a lot from reading things in this forum, and it is a great resource, but due to other issues, am reducing my 'online footprint'.
By the way, the 'security issues' I mentioned do not, as far as I know, have anything to do with this site. I think. Am merely being cautious.
Sorry for posting in bits, but I get logged out if I spend too long typing. Then have to do it all over again. Going back, cutting and pasting, etc., as suggested elsewhere on this forum, have not worked for me. I get a thing that says I need to reload the page, the site will not let me reaccess it, then have to log in, etc. |

829 forum posts 1 photos | I'm not trying to defend this site (I think in a few respects it's indefensible) but I don't think it's unique in this respect. In fact I can't actually recall any site that lets you cancel an account once created. In all honesty I haven't looked very hard though. As to the original problem, if you can't cancel, perhaps you can change most of your info to something innocuous (e.g. fake email address - or perhaps point it to the webmaster). You probably can't change your name but you might be able to change everything else so that it doesn't matter. |

![]() 1655 forum posts 617 photos | Hi Sid - Yes from my perspective it's not really such a problem as I said I don't log out unless it does it automatically and that's when, if I'm not paying attention, I come back in on a different account. I have to say that after the frequent 'auto logging out' problems whilst posting on here in my early days things seem to have settled down but I am now - well most times that is - well locked into copying the post as I do it just to be sure.
I have recently been posting on another (areomodelling) site which has been an absolute pleasure to use so it can be done
![]() ![]() What we have though is, to my mind, excellent - it would just be nice to have the option of being able to get rid of it should one choose and even nicer if it was explained why you can't (or can?) deal with it.

![]() 1655 forum posts 617 photos | Well I don't know quite what's happened but acting upon Davids advice I thought I would change one accounts details as suggested. Logged out and, just to be sure logged back in again. Sure enough it defaults to the 'other' account but now it does not log me in .
![]() ![]() So - whoever fixed this - Thanks. If it was you 'Kelvin', lurking out there in the background somewhere - Big Thanks.
A one word email - 'sorted' would have surficed but unlike Charlie I'm not a big complainer and this is small beer to what is on offer but I do agree you do do us all a big service overall.
THANKS (and no I'm not shouting!)

2292 forum posts 159 photos | Hi all, I would have thought that the web master should be able to remove an account to deal with someone that missuses their account. For example the person that is advertising in the thread "Small blower valves" Other forums also have the facility to moderate individual accounts when a new member registers. (By moderate I mean that a post has to be looked at by the moderator before it appears on the forum.) Les. |
