1 forum posts | After taking out a subs to MEW. at the begining of the year and looking forward to reading the free book, I'm still looking forward to reading it!. Has anyone actually received this mythical tome. I've contacted David Clark and the subscriptions dept. by e-mail about the non receipt giving my name, address and sub no.,a week ago but as yet have heard nothing!. Reading some of the comments on the forum I guess I'm lucky to have received the Mag.
I really would be interested to know if anyone has reveived the free book?

I am told the Foundations of Model Engineering book will be sent out within the next 7 days,.
I have no control over time schedule for posting offers.
I have been away for a week at Myfords.

180 forum posts | Well John you`re what I call b*****y lucky ! I`m still waiting for my free gift from last September !! If I remember correctly it was supposed to be a digital caliper. Thank the Lord for Aldi`s & Lidl. It`s not the only one I haven`t received over the years. it might be because the person who pays for my subscription has a different address than I do but she has never received anything either except off course the next subsciption reminder ! There have been times I`ve thought offers are just a gimick but some people seem to receive them maybe I`m just unlucky. Fortunately I like the magazine in fact I stopped ME when MEW started as I was getting a bit fed up with ME & this one was much more interesting to me.
And if that B****y popup popsup again I`ll pop it one.
Rant over (till the next time!) |

23 forum posts | I like some others was looking foward to the free book! However 'phoned the subscription dept on the 9th April. Was assured that the Fundamentals book would be with me within 5 days. No delivery by the 22nd April, so re-phoned and advised book would be put in the post. Yesterday recieved both books! Worth waiting for - and yes will sent one of the copies back. |

In some respects yes (first subscription issue and offer book) but in others, alas, no ![]() e.g. buying bits for my lathe as a newbie which are subsequently found out to be the wrong sort (when I joined my local ME club and started asking questions) or won't fit (without modification) But my lathe is now set up and working and I am finding what all the levers do and which way round things rotate! ![]() |

25 forum posts | David, could you clarify the Free Book situation for the North American subscribers? I thought you said something about a 7x10 Mini-lathe book, but I haven't seen mention of it in MEW? Are we supposed to call the distributor? Thanks, Robert |
