Fantastic! I have never seen anything like it, it runs so smoothly, is it designed to run on steam?

I guess it could run on steam but I've never heard of one. As an engine I don't think it has any practical use its very  inefficient due to leaks, but the concept does have uses for drive couplings. There's a video on utube of a five elbow engine running.

They do make an interesting novelty engine.

Cheers

One of the first things I made when I bought my lathe was the Elbow Engine in the Popular Mechanics do-it -yourself encyclopedia. The real name of this is a Hobsons Coupling, its a constant velocity right angle drive. I suppose it would make a hydralic motor, or if driven a pump. I might have another look at it, because its never really worked. Ian S C

Just paste the you tube URL into the top of the page that comes up when you click the you-tube icon at the top of your posting

Please edit your post to remove that long URL as its is mucking up the page width.

Thanks Jason

Top of the page:- the very top of the page, not very obvious when the top of the page is off the screen.

Ok her's the next stupid question Jason's suggested that I edit my last post to remove the long URL :-------  How ?.

I managed to master this simple task on other forums but there is nothing obvious her to indicate how its done.

Perhaps if a few of the adverts are removed user would be able to navigate a lot better, I appreciate this is a commercial run forum, but I wonder how many users/customers are put off by the lay out.

Sorry to moan but thats my last rant.
I'll just put up with what you've got,

Cheers

if you look at the icons along the top of the reply box, the one on the right hand end has a you-tube logo, click on that, paste the link into the top line.

One problem with this site is you can onlt edit your posts for a short while after posting, thats why you can't see the edit tab. Hopefully a mod will remove the long link again.

There is no problem with the number or postition of adds on the site until someone posts a long url into a post.

Yes Jason, but on OTHER fori, the designers have sorted the website so that long urls are folded to suit a frame width.

Used to have the problem with overlarge photos dissapearing over the edge (Still do on THIS site) and creating Looooooooooooong one liners. This by the way is one of the sites you post on and THEY seem to have fixed the problem.

As it seems to be a CONSTANT bone of contention, you would think the owners would take steps to have the frame width fixed. Perhaps not, take it or whatever.

  Regards  Ian.

Pleased that someone else has noticed that this forum doesn't quite cut the mustard as to layout, gremlin free, ease of use, etc etc. I post to quite a few forums that are run as a hobby and they are far better. In these areas I'd give it 4 out of 10, in others 10 out of 10.

This forum should be trying to get to an all round 10 out of 10
