I may be mistaken, but I think the wire used by florists to make armatures for flower arrangements is soft iron. You may find most of it comes plastic coated, but some may not be. Maybe worth asking a florist, anyway. David

John, here in Western Canada we used to  buy soft iron wire in hardware stores by asking for "baler wire". It comes in  3.1/2 lb. spools. The wire is 0.060 in. diameter.  Looking now I find the modern name is Rebar Tie Wire, used for tying the reinforcing rods together in concrete forms.
Should be available in Home Despot or similar in the UK.

John, jewellers use soft iron wire as a binding wire when silver soldering so jeweelery supply houses like HS Walsh or Cooksons will stock it, I'll bet it's dearer than "baler wire" though.

Rebar tying wire might have a bigger diameter, I'm trying to remember from when we built the house on Salt Spring Island.  Mechanic's wire, the stuff we used to lock bolts with should be finer, maybe fifteen thou.  Auto parts suppliers in both Canada and here in the UK should still keep it.

I need a source of Spring Steel [annealed state or non annealed], sizes 4mm x 1mm,  2mm x 0.5mm to make a pawl spring (click spring) for a striking clock [Kienzle]  and a spring for an old fashioned cabinet lock.   A minimum length of say 150mm would solve matters.  HELP!!!!
