Today I started on something I could have done with a while ago, a rod and tube bender. I have the plans for Tom Liptons version so decided to get it started.

The pivot is still way under size as I plan to skim the table again then bore it to fit the bearing on the mill.

Not entirely sure my TIG is getting any better.

The fence in the background is complete to the drawings but I was thinking of cutting a vee along the front edge then making a clamp to hold material in the vee before bending. I did see this idea somewhere on Youtube but cant remember where.

Looking good so far

All that matters with welds is good clean penetration, looking nice is secondary

Surely if the penetration is good and regular the finish follows?
