Hey All,

I have finally managed to upload an album of my workshop from start to current state. Uploading them though, they were all rotated 90 degrees for some reason.

Any ways. Here is how she currently looks from the POV of where my lathe will sit. I have some video tours too which I will upload to youtube at some point this week.

The full album is here

You need to rotate the pictures! They are probably showing correctly when you view them on your phone or computer, but the image data is rotated with respect to the exif data, that screws up display on the ME forum crying.

If you have Windows, load the pictures into Paint (Yeah, good old-fashioned Paint), rotate clockwise, then anti clockwise and re-save. Then re-upload them into the album.

Other than that, nicely done, but you'll soon find you need to weld two or three more containers on to it. laugh

So, my phone saves them as PNG, I already have to go into paint and resave them as JPG to upload here. I do the rotation business at the same time. The exif data shows the correct dimensions (width is the shorter, height is the longer) so this behaviour is weird.

Lo and behold, a second rotate right then rotate left and "save as..." worked....

There are only a few images so I have re-uploaded.

And as for extra containers! Yes!!! I am already very much at that point. I could do with another one! space will be tight when I get the lathe in there.

You can stack containers up to about 10 high as well, very handy smiley

"Bloody computers"...

Worked in IT for too many years, I think I've got PTSD.

Looking good, but I would not put my drill press in a corner like that. What if you need to drill holes in a long length of something - or even just something > 400mm ?

Put it near your mill and that shelving, I would.

That drill press is just stored there while not in use, I can pull that out any time I need it with just one hand. Any time I have something long I need to drill through I can sit it anywhere on the worktop. The wooden strip with the magnetic bar on the left of the workbench is also placed high enough so I can handle extra long items and still use the drill press.

You have now got the mill for drilling so can just let anything long hang out the door and it more up to the job of a 4" TE than that little bench drill.

I seldom use my drill press for drilling these days and do it all on the mill, The DRO is easier than marking out, punching and picking up the punch mark and a lot more accurate too.

To save having to rotate any other photos you put in an album here make sure you hold the phone or tablet horizontal (landscape) with the shutter button on the right

Yeah, The Bridgeport will totally take over nearly all drilling operations (apart from wood).

The drill press i've had for years (it's a cheapish wickes jobber). Not my favourite purchase ever. Exactly why it sits at the back of my bench!

I haven't been on here for a while. Lots has been going on but we're through the worst of it! I hope everybody is keeping well.

While I've been offline, I've been pottering about at the workshop getting little jobs done where I can. I scored a free, very rusty metal cabinet that I wheeled back from another mechanic shop 50 yards away, cleaned up the worst of the rust with an angle grinder and then treated it to a bit of Hammerite. Another thing thats been happening is I've been collecting the louvre style parts boxes for storage, and as luck would have it, a few days after the cabinet score, they were chucking out a decent looking metal louvre panel, needless to say I have recycled that and it is now on the wall at the end of my lathe holding all my chuck jaws, cutting tools, jacobs & live center. I have also used some scrap blocks of pine and chipboard to make some nifty stacking shelves for my chuck keys and QCTP spanners.

Yes, I mentioned 'lathe'....

I am now the proud owner (finally) of a (I think) 1963 Colchester master Mk1.5 6.5"

I have created a youtube channel and will be making further videos but here is one regarding my workshop progress.....

Please do like and subscribe so you can follow my progress and all that!!
