I need one screw as above but I'm in Italy. I have a UK address if absolutely necessary but I won't see it until the end of June. What is the most economical place to order?

Ebay shows a number of sellers here in the UK, you might best be arranging delivery to UK address, although they have, (had? ) a system of delivery abroad at buyer's cost.

I found some in A2 stainless from Spalding Fasteners that are 1/2" long. It's easy to shorten a slightly long screw.

There will be engineering suppliers in Italy with American fixings just as there are in the UK. Also try a Nato forces base.

If you search Aliexpress for 8#-32 US coarse thread stainless steel hex socket flat counstersunk head screw bolt, you will find a pack of 10 screws for $1.26 with free delivery worldwide. Searching for 8-32 countersunk screws reveals a few more similar. Shipping will take some weeks at that price.

Italian e-bay also has them listed with postage from UK or further afield

Thank you all. I am missing one screw from a jig that came from Canada, the jig costs $4.90. I was trying to find somewhere inexpensive as I didn't want to spend more than the price of the jig on the screw alone. China takes forever and regularly never actually arrives and the chance of finding one in Italy are remote. Many companies still don't have websites, or will only sell to you if you are Vat registered, can't or won't take orders over the phone etc. I have found one now on ebay UK. Another problem is searching from Italy will give me a completely different set of results to searching in the UK. Buying anything from the UK is now virtually impossible. I was quoted £50 postage to send me some screws last year.

You can try using a free proxy server and select the UK option and your search results will be UK-centred.

Ebay global shipping costs have gone stupid in recent years and ruined what was once a good thing. Often much cheaper to deal directly with a UK company's website and get delivery by Royal Mail's international service. You can try asking an eBay seller to use Royal Mail instead of Ebay Global Shipping but most won't bother because it is inconvenient for them. So they lose a sale.

I guess these are no good to you? #8-32 Csk cross point x 1/2".

How many did you want as I have a few and would post to Italy  from France (no UK borders).

I only need one. It's very kind of you but even for one screw, you're going to have to fill in a customs docket. And it's quite possible I'll get hammered with charges when it gets here. I have ordered some for delivery to my sister-in-law and my son and wife will be in the UK on the 15th, I'll just have to wait. Thank you for the kind offer.

At $4.90 why not just buy another jig ? Of course there is shipping to consider ! Or consider opening the hole to the nearest metric size ?

As the man said, "Buying anything from the UK is now a pain-in-the-arse "

Sad to say,I found the same thing, just not worth the hassle .

To be fair most of the 'stuff' we buy in the UK is from China, India etc etc so just go straight to them.

Customs aren’t so tight as you think! Under 3 cm thick goes as a letter. The odd screw or two passes ok .

Uk customs might not be. Here they charge you 6 euro to work out the VAT on 50p.

Sorry I was reading on phone and missed the France bit at the end. I'm happy to pay the postage if you are still willing. One is plenty.

Too true Tony, and like many others, I suspect, that,s exactly what I do.

Takes a little longer, but the goods get here, well packed, well priced. Never had a bad deal yet, touch wood !

Shop4fasteners, about £13 for 200. Have used them on occasions, useful for larger quantities, which I mostly get. Delivery is within a couple of days or so.
