When we visited Chester Cathedral, yesterday: This was an unexpected bonus

It is awesome in its beauty, and its technical execution.

It's an early mk1 version that needs a bloke hanging underneath it to do the actual spying.

It was impressive when hanging in Rochester Cathedral nave and was even better with the lights off when we left after ringing practice. It would have been truly stunning if they'd used photos with less cloud cover. I had to wonder if the skull was underneath it like Michel Granger's Oxygene cover art....

The similar moon exhibition was more impressive for some reason.

Triggers a frequent thought that I have..... the ever-increasing size of LED screens (used mostly for advertising in shopping malls) - some are truly enormous. Easily large enough to, say, fit out a wall of my den to simulate a window looking out over a tropical beach for instance (a la SF).

But I would have expected by now that someone would have come up with an LED screen on a large sphere. Lot's of things you could do there I think including the subject of this thread and it could be time-variable. So history through the ages etc.
