Interesting process, I wondered how they worked. Are the bullets 9mm ?

They look like 9mm 115gn lead solids to me.

When I was a shooter, I don't think it would've occurred to me to make a device like this. Seems to me it doesn't eliminate having to pick and place each bullet to load it, and it looks as if there's an extra subsequent seating op required. Maybe I'm missing something.

The thing I made was a hydraulic decapper to allow reload of otherwise excellent Czech cartridge cases which were unfortunately Berdan primed, so unsuitable for reloading with standard American equipment.

I'm building a complete reload press, when it's ready, I'll post the video and you'll understand the process

I was wondering how you'd got a new primed and powdered case to appear immediately on removing the one just loaded, or whether you'd edited out the insertion.

When I was reloading, I used a 6-station turret press, although only 4 were fitted with dies and powder measure. I was loading 200 or so rounds per week, about 50 for my own use - it would only have been worthwhile to get a fully automatic machine for bigger quantities.

But in any case I think the laws in the UK became sufficiently complicated to make it impractical to reload for a club as an amateur. Maybe I'll stand corrected, but the opinion I have at the moment is that automatic machines would really need a commercial operation to justify the cost and/or the work.

Celso ari schlichting,
Thank you for your reply.
What kind of animal do you hunt?
What is the make and model of your rifle?
If these questions are too sensitive, please ignore them.

Celso Ari Schlichting,

Obrigado por sua resposta. Que tipo de animal você caça? Qual a marca e modelo da sua carabina? Se essas perguntas forem muito delicadas, ignore-as. Interessado porque sou um caçador-coletor. 25% Neandertal 75% Mongrel .

Most sources say a 9mm parabellum is a bit marginal for protection against bear attacks.

It does have the advantage that you can get fairly light guns with >10 round capacity and it is easy to shoot accurately. Better 4 or 5hits out of a 9mm auto than 5 misses from a magnum revolver bcause you can't shoot it and it's too expensive / painfull / noisy to practice properly.

Been a long time since I last shot a centerfire hand gun, 25 years thinking about it.
UK anti gun laws are getting more draconian. I had missed that from Dec. 2019 you have to register possession or transfer of a de-activated firearm. Also to transfer after that date it has to be de-activated to the latest standad. I wonder how many people with a de-activated gun have missed it too.

Hi Robert,

I won't take it personal about bear attacks, I've been quite good of late.

Robert.

That's about it for me too. I think a good FMJ load in 9x19 might have a chance against dangerous animals - it has very good straight-line penetration. I could get handloads to go through a 7" railway sleeper, and military Mk.2z would probably do more - so long as you're prepared to chuck the pistol away when it starts to break up!

They used to say Lugers like hottish loads, but I've seen 2z break the little cast steel loop that retains the extractor, and crack the crosspin in the breech block toggle link. At least it was the 2z that got the blame, and it was nice minty 1917 Artillery model too.

I imagine the amount of pistol ammunition fired at inanimate targets exceeds that fired at live ones by 6 or 8 orders of magnitude or more. Certainly the 25k or so rounds I shot were never fired at anything living, nor did I ever want to.
