Thanks old iron but I don’t buy the reason that its age verification i can buy any other brand of blades no problem or any other knife type thing My guess is it's because the item is coming from Germany. Possibly it's difficult to find a German courier who can guarantee the legally required age check will be done when the parcel is delivered in the UK. It's important because the courier breaks the law if the check isn't done, and, as there's nothing but trouble for them if the transaction goes wrong, they may choose not to get involved. Brexit probably made exporting this type of item to the UK more complicated too; passing a border is always troublesome. Dave

1193 forum posts 59 photos | Latesy update from Amazon regarding this problem. So now it appears they think I am outside of the UK. After several robochat calls 6 emails & 2 hours on the phone this is the answer I got from them today. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for providing screenshot. ------------------------------------------- They have however given me a £10 gift voucher to use on another purchase. So I really tried Ian but sorry looks like I cannot buy this for you. I have sent another email asking how they decided that I live elsewhere other than the UK. So I still live in hope. And no I do not run a VPN. regards

How does Amazon know your age? They don't - the courier checks on delivery. Moving on, I'm fairly sure the problem is that this is an age check item and the German seller isn't set up to arrange age checks in the UK. Peak4 gave a link to a UK supplier who wouldn't be stymied by that. Are Milwaukee blades special? The picture looks like a bog-standard DIY store box-knife blade, available over the counter everywhere. Dave |

![]() 1174 forum posts 303 photos | They have a rounded end to make them safer for use..use for box cutting i had also been through all the ringing and emailing amazon as to why I couldn’t have them they seem to have no idea …just suggesting i put in a different addresss to have them sent to.. maybe my area has a higher than average record for knife crime. But i have seen the same messages on other items I’ve wanted…so really wanted to get to the bottom of why.. amazon went through age verification with me …but if i bought standard Stanley blades no restriction amazon said maybe i wasn’t on the mainland..without specifying which ML I just find it surprising that if an item is visible on the .uk.co site you cant buy it.. |
