I have just found this group. I am a wood turner who has started using a home made Rose Engine ornamental lathe. A friend made the metal parts for me in his workshop, I did the electronics and the casing and used my 3D printer to make some parts and the rosettes. After moving house I am now too far (different country) from my friend so any enhancements / changes to the metal parts will be down to me.

To that end I only need a small metal lathe so have been looking around for a small one on FB Marketplace and eBay. I found a non-working Warco WM180 at a cheap price, it had an electronics issue. After some fiddling and rewiring I got it working. A few parts were missing which I got from Warco and I now have a working lathe. So now I need to learn how to use it (YouTube here I come) to make the small enhancement pieces that I need.

If anyone wants to take a look at my Rose Engine lathe I did a write up on creating it on my website.

Hello Colin,

Have a look at "Ades Workshop" on YouTube. He's got a WM180 and has made some great modifications to improve it.

Good luck with future projects.

Welcome!

Plenty of help and advice available on here about the lathe, and how to get the best from it.

Whereabouts are you located/

There may be someone, relatively nearby who would be prepared to give "hands on" help if you needed it

Howard
