![]() 121 forum posts 100 photos | Hi. I have a question about the position of the Displacement lubricator on a stationary engine. I have seen many pictures on the net with the Displacement lubricator mounted on the side of the steam chest. Does this position work. I thought the idea was to have it in the steam supply pipe so the passing of the steam drags some of the oil with it. Thanks Garry

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | Common position on traction engines as there is usually no pipe to fit a displacement lubricator to.as steam comes up through the cylinder to the regulator chest and then onto the valve chest. It's not really dragged out by the steam. The cooler lubricator will collect condensation that settles to the bottom and the lighter oil then flows out into the chest or pipe |
