Hi All,

Just got back from picking up some auction lots and noticed that there were two nice machine tool lots, one unsold.

First was a nice Myford ML7 partially restored with ALL parts and lots of tooling which made £320 (+20% commission)

The second lot was this Senior Milling Machine as shown.

Again, partially restored and absent the horizontal arm.

When I talked to the auctioneer he is looking for £350 +comm.

I think that it got bid £300 and not sold.

I have no idea if this is good value but I post it here in case it is of use to someone. It is not going anywhere over the weekend and I will be happy to provide the auctioneers details.

I would have bought the Myford like a shot but was threatened with beheading with a blunt axe by The War Office who was with me!sad

Cheers, Martin

It would be a great buy for somebody, it has the name Centec on it so probably not Senior.

Can I ask politely about which auction house this is? That's a Centec 2A with a mk3 vertical head, unless I am mistaken?

And the word 'steal' comes to mind...

Cheers, Colin

The vertical head for the Centec would likely be rather more, at auction on Epay. They are not so common and are much sought after.

The Center is a lovely machine for light work. The one O used tended to run very warm but we were running it for 10 hours a day.

The spindle tapers are 2 morse and it has the horizontal overarm and original belt guard. Not sure about arbor support.

well worth £1,00 +.

Looks like it could be a proper swivelling Boxford shaper vice on the table, these are very rare and were only supplied on the machines with a swivelling table. I put one on ebay a few years ago and the bidding went mad, went for almost the price of this mill!

Sell the vice, get the mill for free.

Absolute bargain, looks like it is a Centec 2b with mk3 vertical head. I have the same head on my 2A:

Funny enough I also have a Tom Senior, similar but different:

Looks like it is a 2B (with the vertical hand-wheel swivelled round by 90 degrees and no holding bolts fitted).

The Horizontal arm lies behind the mill, on the floor. There could very well be a horizontal arbor in that box, adjacent to the motor.

I would say well worth a grand, if in good condition - and it certainly looks to be in good condition.

Looks work in progress project, table doesn't look long enough for a 2B, motor mount's fabricated, belt drive isn't using gearbox, column, knee and saddle 2B
