Anyone else having problems printing from Pocketmags this month?

I just tried to print a couple of pages from the new edition of MEW - something I do successfully and on a regular basis via the Pocketmags site. However today I get an error message as follows;

{"message":"An error has occurred."}

Not particularly informative I think you'll agree!! I tried the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Edge - they were all the same. It looks like there has been some kind of software update on the site, but for me at least it has broken the printing.

Any feedback or support - or even just commiserations - would be most welcome!

All the best
Graeme

I have same problem.

Up to now, I have always read the magazine directly from the tis site as i couldn't get Pocketmags to accept my code. i have now managed that but I am getting the same error as you when trying to print.

Is there a way of printing directly from the magazine on this site?

Additionally, I noticed that I cannot get access to my full list of subscribed editions, only the current one, on Pocketmags. Is that the way it should work?

Just tried printing from Pocketmags using Chrome on Linux MInt, prints no problem and produces a PDF output. Which operating system are you using?

Gerard - as you have just got your Pocketmags account working, it probably doesn't link earlier issues being available despite you having a valid subscription for that time period. I find an email to their helpdesk gets a quick response and the problem sorted.

I have been having the same problem. Tried it on 2 different computers, using Firefox and MS Edge and contacted The Pocketmags help desk and received this answer:-

Thank you for your email!

We have recently been contacted by a large amount of publishers regarding a change in their piracy policies which we are trying to resolve. So some titles currently have printing suspended but we are working to get this feature back up and running as soon as possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience but with the upcoming changes we are looking to make page printing more user friendly and to allow for the PDF printing for a lot of titles.

Please note this is not permanent and will be available very soon.

Warm Regards,

Pocketmags Customer Service

I wonder of there is any update from the Publishers here about giving permission to print on Pocketmags?

Pocketmags say they still awaiting permission from the Publishers to allow printing. I am keen to print the centre pages of my digital magazines, i.e. the four pages of data tables currently in each issue.

I have emailed to help at subscription help and , while i got an acknowledgement, I have gotten no reply to date.

Any update would be nice.

Its been a while now that we have not been able to print from the digital magazines and and it is still not fixed and they seem to be doing nothing about it.

I have already complained to Pocketmags and now suggest that every reader do the same and put some pressure on them to resolve the problem. If they get enough bad publicity, they might pull their finger out and do something (sorry about the language) but I feel that we are being robbed of what we have paid for. If it can't be fixed, we should be compensated for not receiving the full product that we subscribed to.

Paul.

I agree Paul. However the reply I got from Pocketmags puts the blame with the Publishers. I quote

"Currently the printing problem is being sorted with the publishers, there was a reader update but the publishers PDF was not updated in accordance with the changes we had explained to them. This is with our technical team getting fixed currently"

I can print from other magazines, eg. Real Classic motorcycle magazine. The problem seems to be limited to the Model Engineer magazines. I have emailed to the subscription help but no reply as yet.

But you are right, everyone affected needs to email Pocketmags to start the ball rolling.

Hi folks,

I'm afraid this is a problem with an update to the Pocketmags reader. It's not a policy change.

They assure us that they are trying to fix it for the next update.

In which case Pocket Mags would be better to admit the issue is theirs rather than blaming the publishers.

Thanks Neil,

i have two replies one each from Pocketmags and [email protected].

Pocketmags say

"Currently the printing problem is being sorted with the publishers, there was a reader update but the publishers PDF was not updated in accordance with the changes we had explained to them. This is with our technical team getting fixed currently."

And this reply from [email protected].

"I'm sorry to have to advise that the printing facility is no longer available,"

i also read the "Real Classic" motorcycle magazine on Pocketmags and the printing is working fine with that magazine.

Would be great to get this working again as I had hoped to print the inserted tables in the centre pages of the more recent editions.

Thanks

gerard

The message I got passed:

“This is something we are currently getting fixed with our technical team so we are looking to get this feature up and running again soon. I apologise for the inconvenience.”

Obviously some left hand/right hand going on!

Certainly the expectation we have is that it will be restored.

I also contacted [email protected] and got today an unacceptable reply:

"Unfortunately, there isn't any option to print therefore you will need to print screen.
I trust this has clarified the situation and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."

I have a digital only subscription and not being able to download certain pages is a major concern for me.

It is possible to download pages from Pocketmags older ME magazines (example issue 4634), so I shouldn't be a technical problem.

Regards

Luis

The Pocketmags print option is working again, has been for the last couple of days. I have asked the powers that be if it can be backdated to the issues where it went AWOL but have not heard back yet.

You should still be able to download all issues you have paid for as that has not been affected by the print problem. You need to get the Pocketmags app from the app store or google and install on your device.

The latest ME prints the cover page but any further pages revert to the old problem. I have tried this on Chrome, Firefox and Edge all with the same result. I suppose the cover is a star.

I have tried in both edge and Chrome on a Windows 10 laptop. tried editions 298 to 303 .

I could print no inside pages on from any magazine. I could print the cover from Magazine 299 ( but no other page)

( in contrast, i could print all pages from Real Classic, a motorcycle magazine)

So it appears that it is not fixed yet.

I only tried the cover. Have let someone know and asked for them to look into it.

Hello all,

I made a new try that worked. In Pocketmags->My Library, after selecting the magazine, instead of clicking on the button “Read Now”, I clicked “View in alternative reader” on the bottom of the page.

It’s a workaround, but it´s good for me. Let's hope it keeps working.
