Any ideas why my rothenburger blowtorch has suddenly started refusing to ignite in spite of what looks like a good spark and also the flame is like this

Rather than as before the flame went down to the end of the nozzle

it just started doing this having been fine for well over 6 years

I think the Rothenburger is what is known as a self blown torch. The jet of gas entrains air through holes lower down the nozzle. I suspect that some or all of the holes are blocked.

Andrew.

looks as though a spider may be blocking the air inlet. It seems short of air, it could also be a partly blocked jet. Good luck. Noel

Fron the way that the flame is lifting off the nozzle I'd say that the gas pressure was too high, That tends to happen with my Bullfinch torch if I overdo it with the regulator, but I can't think how that would come about with the Rothenburger.

Hi Ian,

Have you spoken to rothenburger?

But, as I understand it, there are two gas streams.

One isn't working.

Back to Mr R!

I’ve ordered a repair kit @ £29 rather than a new torch at £95

the only bit it doesn’t include is the black body casting by the looks of the kit
