I want to upload some photos from my iPad to my album, but they are coming up rotated by 90 degrees. I have tried rotating the originals by 90 degrees before uploading, but they still come out rotated!

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Mike

The clock you have uploaded today looks to be OK.

It can depend on how the phone or ipad were being held when the photo was taken, if button on the left then the forum can think it's upside down

fairing that post it anyway, I'm sure the new Mods Dave & Mike will be chomping at the bit for the chance to rotate their first photophoto

Ok Jason, I’ll try again. I deleted the two photos which were rotated. The first one, which is in my album, was fine.

Photos now uploaded. And in need of rotation.

Thanks

Just as a check ofwhat I said these two photos were taken on my Android phone and appear the right way up on the phone and PC screens but when uploaded the first one taken with button on the right is OK but the second one with button on the left comes out upside down, Apart from taking the photos again or playing about with editing software not much else that can be done

Just to point out that Mike is talking about 90-deg rotation (which is a common problem on this site) and you seem to be talking about 180-deg. I'm confused for one.

Already done one. Rest assured if I see any images the wrong way up I'll give them a spin. Terrible job being a moderator; I'm pretty sure Jason's example above is deliberately upside down! Better not ruin his day.

Otherwise anyone can force photos into a particular orientation by editing them at home before uploading. Most editors have a rotate function allowing humans to override the 3 or 4 different ways cameras feed orientation data to easily confused websites.

You'd think by now there would be a menu option in web browsers to rotate an embedded photo.

It makes no real difference all to do with what way up you are holding the device, 4 photos taken one after the other rotating phone 90deg between each, all look OK on phone and PC but not here, needs to be held Landscape with button on the right as per the first one, snipped image from my album of how they look.

What puzzles me is that rotating the photos 90 degrees before uploading them didn’t make any difference. They still came out sideways.

the catch, explained many times, is that all you are doing is editing the metadata contained with the picture which describes how to display the image rather than the underlying basic image

Mike, we can't rotate them in your album but can do once you have put them in a post. Certainly worthy of a thread of their own, looks to be a very well made clock.
