Car demister panel

2878 forum posts 248 photos | The electrical tab connector has detached from the rear screen heating grid on the car. I have seen a tube video showing a guy soldering it back onto the grid, but I hesitate as I have a concern that the thermal shock may shatter the glass. Would electrical conducting paint be better with an epoxy coat to make it more secure once the paint has dried. Anyone had same experience ? |

566 forum posts 31 photos | Wow, it must be over 30 years since I used that stuff for the exact same repair. From memory it worked well, I didn't need epoxy on top. Still have a little bottle rattling around in my took box, not sure if it still any good!

![]() 1891 forum posts 37 photos | Assuming the element is on the surface, rather than embedded in laminated glass, the best repair is t use silver loaded conductive epoxy. Not cheap though Make sure it says it is ELECTRICALLY conductive, some are designed for thermal conducttivity and may not be good electrically. Robert G8RPI. |

4655 forum posts 304 photos | It looks like you could get away with soldering it, but during this lockdown at present, if the window did shatter, who would replace it? |

893 forum posts | I think I used my 100 watt soldering iron, maybe it was 80 or 90. I warmed up the connector first, then quick dab, job done.I also remember buying some expensive Silver conducting paint, from I think Radio spares now RS for fail rear widow heater and that worked. John |
