Hi all,

Drew here, 29 years old and from Loughborough, I have a huge interest in Mechanical Engineering in all forms, with my main focus being in nostalgia drag racing, in which I take an active part in building and updating race cars.

I work as a fabricator/welder/machinist during the day within a Design school, and work in my home workshop in the evenings. My home workshop is pretty well equipped but I'm working with mainly older equipment so I may pester now and again for a more experienced opinion on how to approach certain problems!

Really glad to be here and soak in some knowledge!

Welcome Drew, that sounds like some nice equipment that you have.

I'm not too far from you in Mansfield.

Welcome Drew. Spent a lot of time at York Dragway Melbourne myself. My cousin ran a mustang all Fibre glass construction. 1150 hp. Keith black 462CI. Ran low 10's never got into the 9's. Later he copied my 911 turbo replica shelled car. He fitted a 350 small block Chev with alloy heads & roller rockers. 2 Stage Nos. Ran it once & got offered 25 grand for it. Sold. Hope you enjoy the forum.

Steve.

Old Mart - Thanks, I'm be happy to help where I can, but there are some far 'farter smellers' on here than me! I'll try and post some of my work and projects on here rather than just ask silly questions!

Brian - Thanks! If you ever need anything I might be able to help with, you're welcome to pop over.

Magpie - Fantastic photo! You don't want to be sat up there for the push start though! What's your name? And what was the car's name? Looks competitive for the day. I knock around with a couple of guys that were involved in top fuel racing from that period. Do you still have the car or any parts left from your racing?

Steviegtr - Thanks, Sounds like a funny car to me! There's a bit of a crowd funding going on at the moment to try and save York as a drag strip (Or now called Melbourne raceway).

You seem to be well equipped!

If you are not a member, the Soar valley M E Club meet in Loughborough.

Welcome to the forum Drew,

@Magpie email me the full size of that photo and I'll find an excuse to use it in MEW and send you a colour-corrected version by return!
