![]() 282 forum posts 67 photos | Believe it or not, I've struggled to find the correct nuts to fit the stud on the yellow anti vibration feet from Myford for the ML7. Please can anyone tell me what the thread is? They are *not* 3/8 BSW as I was led to believe... Just tried phoning Myford, but no answer. Presumably they've now closed for Xmas. Thanks in advance. |

![]() 2207 forum posts 210 photos | I'd be surprised if they aren't a standard metric thread. M10 for the larger mounts or M8 for the smaller ones. Bill |

7227 forum posts 21 photos | Is the thread fine or coarse, to the eye? If the mounting is of recent manufacture, it is likely to be Metric. Have you tried measuring the OD, and then checking the pitch with Thread Gauges? Don't be surprised if the OD is just a little undersize. I am discounting the threads being UNC or UNF ( 3/8 UNC would be 16 tpi and 3/8 UNF would be 24 tpi and 60 degree thread form instead of the 55 degree of Whit form threads. ) The results ought to give a fair indication of what the thread is. Since you mention 3/8 BSW, could it be M10? If the thread happens to be 3/8 BSF the thread will look finer than M10, being 20 tpi (0.050" or 1.27 mm pitch ), M10 will be 0.393" diameter as against 0.375" diameter, and 1.5 mm pitch against 16 tpi (which will look similar, at 1.585 mm but be different thread form ) If you have 3/8 BSW and M10 nuts available, trying to screw thew onto the male thread will also give guidance. 2308 forum posts 33 photos | I presume you are refering to the myford stand, tray top or industrial ? If so then the thread WILL be imperial. But you may have to drill out to a metric size and use nuts above and below the the foot. I would guess at 3/8 without going out in the rain. can check in the morn. |

I presumed that choochoo was referring to the yellow units shown on this ‘Myford’ stand. https://www.myford.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000002.pl?WD=stand&PN=GREY%2dMACHINE%2dSTAND%2dTO%2dSUIT%2dALL%2dML7%2dML7R%2dSUPER7%2dSUPER7%2d%2dWITH%2dTRAY%2d%2d%2dRAISING%2dBLOCKS%2d%2d%2dFEET%2dGREY_131818%2ehtml#SID=204 MichaelG. |

![]() 7881 forum posts 397 photos | If they are not BSW but are old like the lathe, probably BSF. But if they are new ones purchased recently from Myfrod, probably metric. Either way, it's a good excuse to buy yourself a nice set of both metric and imperial thread pitch gauges for Christmas. Edited By Hopper on 21/12/2019 02:16:11 |
