I stumbled on this 5" milling vise one ebay today. It is a Toolmex, Polish make with a swivel base. Priced to sell fast, it is better than the average by a mile. I would have snapped it up, but for the 5" ARC one I have and the pair of Bison 4" ones.

It looks like a bit like vice that's had a paint job done on it to me.

Is that wear on the ground horizontal area?

Yes the paint is suspect, but there are no signs of the common drilling marks. And the scribe mark which lines up the zero on the base has not been made yet.

That said, the jaws show very few, if any, dings.

He has it at £120 on his website. There is plenty of choice of vises. I’ve only dealt with him once (not a vise). Seemed a reasonable fellow. Not too easy to find him, until you know his location.smiley

I'm not surprised it has no dings - it's for sale as 'A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging'

The design is common, I have a very similar vice made in the Far East. It's OK. Old Mart's find is a good price but can quality ever be judged from a photo?

If it was a bison vise of the same size with the base, it would go for 4 times the advertised price, and Toolmex is comparable in quality, and might even be the same firm.
