Have set the Chester coolant system for my Chester db10 at lathe level, the coolant is topped up, pump working, but no coolant. Does the pump need priming ,if so how?

place a peice of suitable sized pipe over the coolant outlet and blow down it, if you can hear the coolant bubbling, you know the pump is immersed, and there are no bloackages, if you cant blow down it, there is a blockage, or a valve in the line somwhere which is turned off. If you can blow down it, try pouring some coolant down it and try again. is it three phase? pump running wrong way? Hope this helps!

Check that there is coolant in the tank to begin with !

Sounds silly ? not so, been there, done that !

If the tank is full, check that there are no valves closed and that the pump is running the right way [simple things mean a lot ! ] These pumps are usually trouble free, so it has to be something simple

As an aside, the pump fitted to the cooling system on my bandsaw, came from a clapped out washing machine. Still working after ten years or more.
