I don't want to buy it, but I'm intrigued as to what this might be. I've searched through the Myford pages on lathes.co.uk, but cannot see anything like it.

Last picture, manual says: ML7-R.

Food for thought!

You did not look very well did yousmile p

It's almost certainly mini cop with most of the hydralics missing, different tailstock etc

Does not look like any 7 Series Myford.. So the manual does not match the machine.

Certainly newer than the ML1,2, 3 or 4.

It looks to, be a training lathe, since it has no Leadscrew.

Possibly, the lathes UK site will help to identify it?

Ah, didn't scroll down far enough to see the pictures of the Mini-Kop 1A, stopped after looking at the Mk1.

Silly me blush

It's definatly a Myford. A mini Kop model 1 a. Such a shame it's missing the vital bits that make it a hydraulic copy lathe, but they are mostly found incomplete. A rare piece of Myford history that I hope is brought by someone who can do something with it.

The myford mini Kop page on the lathes.co.uk it shows the model 1 .a about halfway down the first pageimage.jpg

Also Called the Myford Tempest in the 1960s I think.

Now that I've read the whole page (ahem) it states the Tempest name is incorrect, and was the name of the firm that took the pictures.

I'll get something right, sometime...

What's the betting the bidders just want the lever operated tailstock and will bung the rest back on ebay as parts at silly prices hoping to get the full price back.

That industrial stand is worth a bob or two on its own.

When my dad bought his brand new Super 7 (belongs to me now) in the late 80's, he insisted on having that type of stand but was told they no longer made them as they were too expensive to produce with the rolled edge tray etc.

They ended up finding a good secondhand one and re-finishing it just to sell my dad the new lathe.

That’s interesting, perhaps somebody should change the Myford archive pages as well.

I have always thought ‘what a great name’.

That's strange! I wonder which is correct?  This  or this?

Looks like it would be a serious restoration project, thank goodness it's too far away for me to bid on lol.

I cant see there being a crate load of parts floating round for it and without them it's a plain turning lathe of little capability from what I can see.

I agree though it would be grand to see one in the flesh and working.

Regards Mick

For the record bidding ended at £260/ The seller claimed the stand alone was worth > £400.

I'm pretty sure my S7 has the same cabinet....

they guy it came from was a machine salesman and collected machines everywhere....

managed to salvage some nice stuff from his estate....

the paint match between the lathe and the stand is quite different but certainly the lathe is as new....
