2 forum posts | I have been a member for a while, but am only now getting around to an an introduction. I came across an outdated copy of MEW at a local bookstore, immediately realized that it contained a wealth of useful information, and lost no time in subscribing. I have a background in manufacturing, having completed an apprenticeship as a prototype machinist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, our equivalent of Great Britain's AWE. I worked at Los Alamos for ten years, first as a machinist, later as an inspector in quality control. I am now pursuing machining as a hobby, working out of a small shop behind my house. It did not take me long realize that the game really changes when one must pay to pursue one's interest, and has no government to supply cutting-edge instruments and materials. MEW is a great help to me in contriving the means to get things done, and I find something of use in every issue. My primary interest is in the design, making and testing of firearms and ammunition, and I am a competitive rifle shooter. I am also very interested in the history of manufacturing, and in hope to someday tour Britain's industrial museums. My shop activities include pattern making, casting, lathe and mill work, 3D printing, and the fabrication of tooling and machines. It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance! .
