![]() 2 forum posts 1 photos | Why on earth do you request 'You need to make a small number of forum posts to see contact details.' How does people sell stuff on this site. This is ridiculous I would recommend you advertise somewhere else. I was interested in buying items but can't contact anyone and I have nothing to say on the Forum. |

Since this has been implemented the reported scams have dramatically reduced and sellers seem to prefer dealing with genuine buyers. |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | As a buyer, I prefer to deal with a regular forum user, not some ‘fly-by-night’ member who comes onto the forum simply to sell their wares and using the forum as a profit making platform. I always look for the “member’s” (the inverted commas to cover both genuine and ‘imposter’ members) previous postings or their profile. Just like I prefer proper car-booters to the ones selling junk goods specially bought in for the sale. |

2011 forum posts | I can't post for sale ads. because I don't have a landline phone, at least the last time I looked. Got rid of bt and saved a lot of hastle and money. I.ve been on this forum for years but I do understand the reasoning behind it. |

![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Basically, free classifieds of this kind are subject to regular abuse by scammers if open access is provided. After having to spend a whole morning individually contacting every advertiser because a scammer was equally systematically working through contacting them all I decided enough was enough. I'm a member of another forum that requires fifty posts to be made before allowing people access to the classified ads. Curiously I have never seen a complaint about this, although it is probably busier than our classifieds. On most forums it is generally accepted that classifieds are a benefit of being a regular forum user rather than being available to anyone. We are unusual in allowing this benefit to anyone willing to make a couple of postings; while this benefits those individuals it does mean that those who make positive contributions to the website can lose out. Perhaps it is time to canvas the opinion of forum users? Neil Edited By Neil Wyatt on 31/01/2018 17:09:20 |

I.ve been on this forum for years but I do understand the reasoning behind it. You can use an email address, one reason for the postings rule is that this makes it less likely your email address (or telephone number) will be harvested by a scammer.
