With all the hoo ha in the media about ensuring all web sites have the security padlock in their address bar, how come the MEW doesn't have one in its address bar, all it shows is an information icon that informs you that the connection to the site is not encrypted, have MTM not bothered, will they do so in the near future ?

This section of the site does not need encryption, if you go to the subscription section then you will see the safety padlock.

So, yes it is encrypted where it needs to be.

It would be safer if the login page was also through a secure connection, as users might (unwisely) use the same user names and passwords elsewhere.

We are supposed to be changing to HTTPS sometime in the relatively near future, but yes the subscriptions site is secure. This one doesn't handle financial information.
