You can see why it was called the Great War with the millions of munitions that were fired and that has left a legacy that still has a devastating impact on today. |

I thought it very good too - and all the better for being a little unexpected in ME. Apparently the money spent by Germany on WW1 was sufficient to have bought the whole of France on the open market : land, industry, resources, commerce, art, transport - everything. WW1 cost Britain even more. We borrowed on a gigantic scale and the final loan wasn't paid off until 2015. Ouch. Dave |
