![]() 215 forum posts 51 photos | I stumbled onto this picture of an S7 fitted with what appears to be a gravity-feed cutting fluid delivery system? That looks like a drip-oiler cup fixed to a partly-hollow post mounted on the cross-slide? Just wondering if any of you have experimented with similar? And might share pictures? Cheers, Colin |

1504 forum posts 142 photos | Colin Int 'tholden days it was common to have a shelf behind and above the lathe. Put a gallon (4.5 litre) can with a flexible tube and nozzle on the end from can to lathe. Simple tap on nozzle (eg motorbike fuel tap) and let it drip away. A bucket under the swarf tray outlet collected the run-off coolant which was returned to the can. I'll try and find a picture. |

![]() 304 forum posts 28 photos | I've had a 1 gal plastic tank on a shelf above my lathe for years & the usual pipe down to the tool with a valve, it provides all the coolant you need, I collect the coolant in the tray outlet & filter it then back in the "header tank",I wouldn't bother with all the fancy (& sometimes expensive) ideas for a pumped system,I don't bother with the myford, just use a brush & oilcan but only on the student, which does 90% of my turning. |

![]() 131 forum posts | I use one of these small pumps in a builders bucket positioned under the lathe, powered by an old router plug in 12v adaptor. with a length hose to one of these, and a return hose to the bucket from the swarf tray. works really well and is capable of supplying more than enough coolant. I drop the pump into a fine mesh sleeve to protect it from metal particles, and dangle a magnet into the bucket now and then to collect any settled swarf. Has been working fine for the last year or so, - now I've said that it will probably pack up.
