It's a bit dusty because it was sprayed with oil before storage

Well found, Sir.

Anyone on here know of any cheap companies who deal with pallet deliveries .

That's astonishing !!

I was quoted £440 for moving a similar weight from Winchester to Cheshire.

I hope it goes well for you.

Don't know if i'm excited or apprehensive ...Lathe was bought of Gumtree but Charlie the guy i bought it off has been amazingly helpful ,especially for staying back after his working hours today waiting for the lathe to be picked up .

Lathe is now sitting outside she'd wrapped up for the night until I rearrange and decide where it's going . I Don't get home till after 8 so I haven't had the energy nor the time . But my goodness I underestimated the size of the Stedall .
Cast iron undercarriage if you like and the lathe itself, it took 2 of us to lift each one and we're not weaklings . First thing I've done is spray the whole lathe with WD40 . Unfortunately someone in their wisdom have fitted grease nippless and used grease on the headstock bearings !!!!,and they are roller bearings so not sure if that's good or bad depending on which grease was used I suppose. It looks like I may have power crossfeed not absolutely sure yet will confirm when I have a closer look . . Anyways , I will not doubt be picking people on here's brains at some point lol .
Will post some detail photos tomorrow and maybe you guys can give me your options.

Thanks Sean

Im surprised no-one mentioned what make of lathe you have there.

You appear to have a nice Fortis lathe there hopefully under all the dust and grime .

Probably Stedall acted as agents as most of their stuff ive seen are rebranded Lorchs.

The fortis is based on the Clausing lathe and they are pretty nice lathes. I almost bought a Fortis on ebay a couple of years ago but ended up with a Southbend.

Look forward to more photos.
