img_1846.jpgG'day all again - yet more help sought.

The above photo's are of a motor and impeller from a dismantled grinder dust extractor cabinet. The cabinet is too heavy for me to use it but the motor is a capacitor start job in excellent condition. I would like to recover it but the method used to mount it has me totally foxed. The three complete circumferential holes and the central one are internally threaded - unknown pitch/ LH, RH???. There appears to be a key of sorts on the central shaft. Have any members come across similar fixings or any suggestions as to how to start the removal process, please? If all else fails, I'm considering chain drilling and general savagery!!

It's a taper lock bush. It is missing the screws normally allen head grub screws. Two screws hold it on and the third is a jacking screw to remove it. See Fenner for more info.

John you just beat me to it failing a screw to jack it off usually a smart tap on the fan boss should push it back enough to get it off good luck

Thank you very much, Journeyman and Mike L. Exactly what was needed. The body of information among forum members is amazing, remarkably comprehensive and reassuring for we 'less sharp blades in the knife box'!!!

Glad you're sorted. The motor looks to be in good condition from the casing.
