5 forum posts | Hello, I have come across this post some 5 years after it was created! I am interested in founding a model engineering group in Ely, and was wondering if there is any interest? I was thinking of beginning with some kind of online forum allowing for Q & A and show & tell. I'm not sure the best way to go about this, I was thinking of starting a group on Facebook. But if anyone has a better idea I'm happy to go along with that. Andrew |

7227 forum posts 21 photos | Am loathe to suggest poaching members from Cambridge or Peterborough, but do you have a local magazine, "Ely Life" or something like it, in nwhich you could pose the question? Local newspaper might mention? Blag a spot on the local radio station? Howard |

![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | If you create a group, club or society make sure you call it "ELY MODEL ENGINEERING ......." so that search engines and people can find it. It is a really bad idea to call it after some local pub/park/landmark or gimmicky name so it isn't obvious where it is. Find your local Model Railway clubs, Men's Shed, Makers, wood turners and carvers clubs, U3A, etc and let them know. Even have a word with the vicars of all the churches in range to let them know as they will have lots of contacts in their community. Edit: The Exeter and District MES, EDMES, got initial publicity just by mentioning on here that they were starting with a meeting. Whoops, there I go again giving EDMES some publicity.
