42 forum posts 17 photos | While using my WM16 mill there was a smell of burning coming from the motor housing. When I removed the motor cover the motor was cool and nothing detectable. But within about 20 seconds after switching on smoke started to come from the motor itself. As mentioned elsewhere on this forum I connected a 100w bulb to the drive and all appeared fine , no "flicker" detectable. But when I put my multi-meter on the connections I had DC voltage with a large AC component. 55VDC/82VAC After speaking to Warco and explained the situation they did not question if I was correct, and sent replacement parts FOC without argument or fuss. I made the call on Monday 21st Dec and gave up all hope of getting anything this side of Xmas, imagine my surprise when they turned up today Wednesday 23rd... To quote David from Cambridge " the motto of this story is that for anyone contemplating buying a new lathe or mill, Warco will look after you." |

I have the benefit of living in the same village as Don so whenever I need stuff urgently, I simply ring him up, order the required part and he brings it home with him ready for me to collect that evening. Bought a lathe off them 2 months ago and a WM18 today. Can't beat their after sales service so happy to part cash with them. G Edited By Grant Nicholas on 23/12/2015 18:48:35 |
