I have finally cracked a method, This is a stack of images from the 30 July, very carefully colour balanced and stretched, with a sharpened luminance layer on top for the detail. Very pleased with this one! Right click and view image. |

Neil, You may find Kevin Kilburn's article **LINK** of interest. MichaelG. I very briefly (as it then had a 0.925" barrel instead of a 1.25" one) tried out the low-power (40mm) eyepiece home made from two binocular objectives in the 6" reflector. To my amazement the contrast with the full moon was remarkable. t was very cold I was a bit damp and putting things away so I only observed for less than 30 seconds but I imagined I saw colour as well - and that I had imagined it. That article suggest I may well not have imagined the colour, so perhaps that little eyepiece of my will turn out to be a bit of a gem. I will try it on the moon again, but my real plan is to use it for large faint objects. |
