Free Plan: Cross Vice to Vertical Slide

Produced in response to a reader request, E. G. Hartwell proposed this method of converting a cross vice into a vertical slide. This free plan was first given away with issue 15 of Model Engineers' Workshop, February/March 1993.

Cross vice to slide

Cheap cross-vices haven't changed much in design over the last 20-odd years, so this design should still offer some inspiration.

It's not very difficult to remove the staples [like I did, when I scanned some pages for you] ... 'though it's a b####r of a job putting them back !!
