Can anyone identify this small lathe?

After a gap of many years, I plan to continue to upgrade this lathe - hence it being in pieces.

Thanks, Clive.Mini Lathe 2

Clive,

That's a rather interesting design of Bed.

Sorry, I don't recognise it, but it definitely looks worthy of restoration.

.

P.S. drifting off-topic already, I just found this article about another unusual design.

Very unusual, maybe unique

Whoever made it could make lovely small castings, headstock, tailstock, the far end of the bed and the saddle but never made a large base casting to stiffen the structure into a box shape

It would sit very nicely on a small slab of Marble or Granite, about 3" thick

Maybe a trip to the Monumental Mason, in search of an off-cut?

Thanks all for your helpful comments. It seems to me that this a commercially produced machine though of unusual design. However, there are no identifying marks.

Thanks Michael for the link to the very ineresting homemade lathe to a very unusual design. You may be interested in my own homemade lathe in my Album made with limited access to machine tools. The bed was fabricated from stock black bar and filed to shape. All patterns for castings were home produced and cast just down the road from where I lived. The lathe is still being developed.

Cripes Clive, that's an impressive machine.

It would make an interesting interlude for 'One Man and His Lathe' to cover it's story.

Are you interested?

Well I might be. Is 'One man and His Lathe' a current series in Model Engineer? I haven't been able to access my mailed copies for a while so a bit out of touch. I did write an article for Model Engineer but it didn't go anywhere. C

Sorry Clive,

Its an MEW series. I should also make it clear I mean the lathe you have built, no this 'new one'.

Yes Clive ... Very interested: A most impressive piece of work.

Having seen that: I'm sure that the little unknown lathe is in very capable hands.

Clive,

Although obviously different in many details ... Your unknown lathe does seem to bear a family resemblance to the Greenly lathes illustrated here.

It may be worth researching what else Greenly designed.
